Advanced Fire Lighting Course – NCFE L3 Accredited
This advanced fire lighting course is designed to give you the skills and confidence to be able to light and maintain a fire in a wilderness environment, even in the harshest of weathers.
Focusing on lighting fires in wet and windy conditions, this course will cover several tried and tested means of fire lighting methods, from modern methods to more “primitive” techniques. This advanced fire lighting course is very hands on and you will be practicing all the methods as well as sourcing the raw materials from the woodland. This will give you real life experience in finding and identifying the correct materials to create fire when your need for it is at its highest.
On the advanced fire lighting course you will learn how to process a single log and produce everything you need for a fire from it, as well as covering long log fires and of course fire by friction.
By the end of the advanced fire lighting course you will have sourced the items need to build a bow drill set, and will have used it to create fire. Possibly one of the hardest and most advanced methods of lighting fire.
You will also learn how to build your fire so that it is most effective for your needs, be that cooking, warmth, boiling or long burn time. This is the sort of skill not normally covered on firelighting courses but, we think it’s one of the most important to know when living outside for any period of time.
As with all Wildway Bushcraft courses, this course will be staffed with plenty of instructors and will be delivered in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Tea and Coffee, as well as snacks will be provided. This is a self catered course and camping in the woodland is encouraged to make the most of the course – with your new found firelighting skills you’ll be sure to keep warm!
