Advanced Bushcraft Course – Level 4 – NCFE Accredited.
We have developed this Advanced Bushcraft Course to be as flexible to you as possible. Based over 12 months our Advanced Bushcraft Course covers 14 modules set over one weekend per month, a 9 day continuous period in the woods and a 7 day canoe expedition so 52 days in the woods over all!
You are able to complete the Advanced Bushcraft Course within 1 year, or take up to 3 years, by dipping in and out as time allows. You do have to complete each module, but we appreciate you might need some flexibility on time due to work\life commitments etc.
The Advanced Bushcraft Course covers the following modules:
- Fire By Friction
- Foraging
- Bark Craft
- Water
- Carving
- Natural Shelter
- Weaving
- Hide Tanning
- Map Reading
- Natural Cordage
- Animal Tracking
- Tree Felling
- Green Woodworking
- Charcoal Making
Each month we delve deep into each module focusing on perfecting the foundations of your bushcraft skills as well as developing a deeper understanding of the woodland and what it offers. On the Advanced Bushcraft Course, every module will include teaching sessions, group and peer discussions and practical practice time. At the end of the weekend module you will be set a project to complete in your own time at home which you will then bring back the following month. These projects will go towards building up a personnel portfolio of practical projects and a personal journal to evidence your work.
The 9 day period in the woods allows you to spend a good amount time living in the woodland and learning to perfect the daily tasks and rhythm’s of long term wilderness living. Other lessons and projects will be taught whilst on the 9 day phase of the course such as tree felling, green woodworking and charcoal making, it is also a good chance to use items you have made leading up to the 9 day phase.
Bushcraft is also about travelling through wild places so we have factored in a 7 day canoe trip in Scotland so you are able to experience and hone your bushcraft skills on the move.
This advanced bushcraft course is all about you and your learning. John will be on hand to help you when you are not in the woods should you have any questions or need advice on your projects. There will also be a fortnightly Zoom meeting hosted by John to allow you to check in and discuss anything that’s on your mind.

If you’re on the fence about committing to the course- just do it! It’s great time, learning a load of skills with a group of likeminded people. The weekends are packed, and you always come away with a project to work on in between weekends in the woods.
I’ll be sad when it’s over.

Literally just about to do the 9 day assessment, which I am really looking forward to. John and Ian who are your main Instructors throughout the year long course are nothing less than BRILL. I have thoroughly enjoyed every module and am so looking forward to the assessment. I have also built relationships with my fellow student that I am pretty sure will be lifelong..
Thanks JB, Purds you both Rock

Absolutely brilliant course. The instructors are sound and have a laugh, whilst still passing over as much knowledge as possible.

Absolutely awesome course! You are in good hands and gain a wealth of knowledge and skills, with the experience of the instructors shining through with each lesson. The variety on the course always keeps you looking forward to the next one, and with plenty of time in the woods and trips away, you will see your skills taken to the next level of the course of the year.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking to further their bushcraft skills and drills.

The best course I have ever done. No seriously, this has it all.
There is so much packed into the year.
On top of the top quality course content ranging from traditional crafts to expeditions, you also get all 4 seasons out in the woods where you can hone your kit and yourself.
John and Ian know their stuff, but aren’t stuffy. You’ll find a pair of relaxed experts in their field who want to be there and want to share their knowledge, with some guest instructors within their specialism.
Whether you are fairly new to bushcraft or experienced there is something for everyone.
I will be sad when it is over, I might book for a 2nd year!
