The Wildway Knife

This knife has been 15 years in the making, co-designed by John Boe here at Wildway Bushcraft and Steve Armstrong from Field and Steel the “Wildway” Knife is a superb all round bushcraft knife.

Designed with all tasks in mind, the blade tip has been profiled to excel at tasks such as fish gutting and large game prep. The gentle curve on the belly makes it an extremely proficient at creating feather sticks and is perfect at roughing out blanks for more complex carving jobs.

The small ricasso allows for solid and confident powerful cuts when pointing and notching.

The 3mm thick full tang blade is a change from the “normal” standard 4mm on other bushcraft knives. Still solid enough for battening work, but also shallowing the Scandi grind edge angle to a make for a smoother slice when preparing food at camp.

The Specs

  • 3mm Aisi 01 carbon steel
  • 110mm blade
  • 225mm overall
  • Earth brown G10 handle with neon green liners
  • Earth brown kydex sheath with detachable belt/pocket clip

Steve’s work is second too none and the craftsmanship that goes into every knife, made Steve the perfect person to work with. His attention to detail on every knife makes each one the perfect balance between art and a practical tool for the woods and wild places you visit.

Beautiful, functional, and very sharp! I’m the proud owner of #004 and I can highly recommend this knife.

It’s well-made and feels great in the hand. Well balanced and it doesn’t feel slippy during use. I’ve tried it out with some fundamental bushcraft skills and feathering a stick is like using a hot knife through butter. I’ve not done any game prep, but it’s clear the thickness and shape of the end of the blade will be perfect for this. A well-designed and functional knife that anybody interested in bushcraft should own!

So glad you like it Mike.

Proud owner of #007. Superb quality and feel. really nice weight to it, feeling secure and balanced in the hand. Used for a full weekend firelighting course and it batoned, carved and made fantastic fire sticks. Back edge is square finished and made use with a ferro rod even easier than the striker that came with it. at the end of the weekend it was still absolutely razor sharp as it was when first delivered. amazing bit of kit.
